March 4, 2009 - The WIRED Initiative recently awarded the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center with $148,324 to begin offering an associate's degree in both Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physical Therapy Assistant.

Oct. 10, 2008 - The WIRED Initiative recently released an RFP giving area schools and community organizations an opportunity to offer programs such as Project Lead the Way, Job's for America's Graduates and other innovative programs to students.

WIRED Awards SEMO with Grant for Entrepreneurial Education
Sept. 2, 2008 - Fitting with its focus on entrepreneurial endeavors, the WIRED Initiative recently awarded Southeast Missouri State University's MO Real Entrepreneurship Program with a $25,000 grant. Already, five high school teachers have been trained and certified to teach the innovative entrepreneurial program to their students. But the impact won't stop there, a training workshop is being scheduled for next summer to train even more teachers thus impacting even more students.

Regional Leaders Form a Regional P-20 Council
July 25, 2008 - Community, education and business leaders convened to form a regional P-20 Council, named the Business and Education Network of Southeast Missouri. Only the second in the state to take the lead in forming such an organization, leaders hope to improve the workforce through education and training individuals from pre-school through adulthood.

Sikeston, MO Receives METS Grant
Sept. 19, 2008 - Sikeston School District was one of only five schools in the state of Missouri to recently be awarded with the METS Classrooms Grant Program. Gov. Matt Blunt announced the district will receive $267,000 to be designated for middle school math and science projects.
